Your voice is very soothing to me. I enjoyed your shared philosophy on how we each get to choose the quality of our work. God bless your family and your ability to continue woodworking.
Wow, thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to leave a positive comment!
Everyone is saying table is underpriced. An I think i will never buy a table worth more than $1500...
Fair enough. I don't blame you, that's why I got into woodworking in the first place.
it's deceivingly challenging to do something so simple in such a beautiful way. hats off, man!
It is rather deceiving huh? So much work can go into a simple design.
The video shared is very easy to understand for everyone, thank you
That's great! Thank you!
Very beautiful table. Love black and Walnut combo, but the Bolivian Rosewood is equally as gorgeous. Excellent work.
Thank you kindly! I will hopefully be working with some fun woods here soon! Thanks for watching!
Truely a beautiful piece of work man!
Thanks so much! I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment!
Well done, keep up the good work
I sure will! Thanks for watching!
I wonder if, and assume, the majority of the cost was that floating media console?
It was a good chunk, most of the cost came from the sheer volume of lumber that was needed
So the TV is mounted on slats that are only glued? Would that be strong enough to resist pullout from the wall?
No, the lag bolts are screwed through the panel into studs
👍
Thanks!
Your video footage is beautiful, you commentary is perfect and even your background music is very tasteful!
Thank you! I'm glad you like it.
Watching from Sydney Australia. The attention to detail is up there amongst the highest on RUclips and social media. Appreciate the soothing narration too, without noisy music or product plugs. It's great seeing a budget-smart alternative with Red Oak. Here, in Aus it's fashionable to copy Americans but since we lack native oak forests and having to import the timber some projects I work on end up in several tens of thousands. It's senseless nowadays and timber merchants have been price gouging since the pandemic.
Thank you. You are definitely right, most corporations are price gouging still, it's sad
@@FortressFineWoodworks It seems our commercial wholesale timber prices for American timber imports are 3-5x your local retail prices. It's crippling ands it's criminal, but what choice do we have? Especially since shops here have been stockpiling at pandemic prices it's caused mass staff redundancies and they say half of builders have gone insolvent. I guess if local customers didn't follow fashion trends but were open-minded to lower cost local materials there would be a chance. Red Oak may be one way.
I work with hickory , oak and Osage orange aka Bois de'arc / bo-dark.
Those are some nice woods!
Man I've gotta say, I love woodworking! I mean I reeeeeally love it. But I haaaaaate finishing! Lol
That's a bummer because finishing can be an enjoyable process if you do it in a way that you like!
@FortressFineWoodworks well the main thing is that I've carefully spent hours and hours trying to get everything perfect and at the finishing part if the process I stand a chance of ruining the whole thing 🙃
$6k? :O
Pretty much!
Quelle essence de bois avez-vous utilisée ?
This is Hickory
@@FortressFineWoodworks thank you very much ! En France on le nomme NOYER BLANC.
QUE TIPO DE COLA USOU NA PAREDE ?
High grade silicone to secure the slats to the panels, and construction adhesive to attach them to the wall.
PERFEITO
Thank you!
This is the type of work I aspire to produce, I’ve definitely subscribed to your channel!!
I'm glad it inspires you! Thanks so much for the sub!
WHAT.. you Stained that beautiful walnut with black ... I cant watch anymore...
Walnut turns piss yellow if it's left instained. At least this way it won't fade
Are you really comfortable spraying all the finish, oil, paint with your gun all around your workshop? I mean, why not building a small "painting room"?
I don't get any overspray in my shop. The vent fans duct out all of the particles. Thanks for watching!
Any paint on wood is a turn off.
Good thing there's no paint on this one
floating shelf should have been black walnut
Maybe so!
Oh my oh my aren't you all male appendages, FFS he's an over bearing wee A hole and listen to all of you blowing smoke up his bum, I could only listen to him for half the video, it was like a story book for children, fucking man up.
I just wanna know how you took in wall and door and vent sizing to have the perfect spacing. To begin and end with a full slat? Cause could figure out the spacing for the wall. But I don’t know how to account for the door and vent you did.
I 3d modeled the wall in sketchup, then figured out the spacing in the program. I started by fitting everything to the door, then worked my way out from there
Unbelievable how expensive wood is considering it grows on trees.
Very true. It does take a lot of work to get it from a tree into boards that are straight and dried properly though
😂😂😂😂 Good one.
It's height not heigth
Americans say heig(th) all of the time. It's just one of those broken English terms
The TV is too high, it should be eye level for the seating position.
Maybe so. I appreciate your oppinion
Please stop saying costed is wrong. Cost is cost past and present
I learned. Thanks!
Nice😍
Thank you!
Making wood shine like a car only for winter to mess it up. Bless you
It still looks great actually! Thanks!
WHITE OAK?? WHITE OAK?? I bought a japanese wooden bokken made out of that shit... that shit is TOUGHT AS NAILS god dayam!!
Yeah it is!
I see so many woodworkers building their business the wrong way. Thanks for this.
Thanks for watching!
The demon code prevents me from doing it the hard way. It dictates using the Domino or Mafell Dowler. 🤣🤣🤣 😈😈😈
We all have demons. I get it
That was a good watch.
Glad you enjoyed it! I hope to see you around!
That’s why they use it to make drum sticks

finally, some good advanced finish video action. thank you
You are very welcome! Thanks for watching!
Awesome work. Those dents would probably have steamed out with a hot iron ? stainless steel brads I hope.😄
The fibers broke on the crushed section, it may have steamed back to the original form, but the stain would've highlighted the problem. Here in Colorado, we don't need to use stainless steel brads because we don't have humidity
Hard luck. The great Alan Peters ( UK cabinetmaker ) urged sceptics to make a wood/ aluminium /wood sandwich and see what happens. It moves of course. It's still a thing of beauty.
Mmmm a wood and aluminum sandwich. Sounds nutritious
Hmmm, would've purchased a MIG welder to start and to weld that thin material.
I agree, a mig was just too expensive for the budget though
I'm surprised you don't have a Festool Domino. Awesome shop BTW.
I do have one, but mortise and tenons made for an interesting project
Thanks for the warning. Haven't worked with it yet. Maybe I won't.
It has a really nice look though
just found your channel. really good stuff..
Glad you found Fortress! I hope to see you more often!
Seeing B roll of the piece in situ is a nice touch. So often I wonder what the intended result is, and it's so satisfying to see. It also shows the choice for why to design like that given the geometric tiles, thicker spout on the kitchen sink, and lampshade shapes.
Thanks for that. It's always nice when it gives that satisfaction!
21:43 I paused and clapped. Bravo.
Thanks!
What is that drill bit at 16:58 ?
It's a self centering drill bit amzn.to/3xqzd9S
@@FortressFineWoodworks Thankyou!
*laughs in Iroko* *giggles in camelthorn* My tools were screaming. Surprisingly, my Stanley No80 with a Ron Hock blade did most of the finishing without a need for sanding though. Nice work though mate. Result speaks for itself.
Thank you! Are those Ron Hock blades pretty nice?
Yeah but do I need a $135,000 workshop filled with pro Festool equip first….? 😅
Actually no you don't. Here's a video where I did an epic accent wall in a single car garage workshop. ruclips.net/video/ip_pcXjTTZA/видео.htmlsi=57ofWc4j0I_O9LJm
